An excellent way to find out more about permaculture is to attend this two-day introductory course. This ‘taster’ will provide an opportunity to actively learn about the principles of permaculture and give you plenty ideas for your garden, balcony or even lifestyle.

The course will be interactive, lively and thought-provoking

Through this one weekend course we will cover areas such as:

  • Ethics and principles
  • Design (zone and sector system, site analysis, etc)
  • Permaculture solutions for sustainability
  • Observation exercises
  • Practical sessions

The course will be held in English
(A possibility of translations in Greek will be possible at times)

Caspar Brown
Caspar BrownTeaching
Caspar teaches bushcraft, nature awareness, permaculture and mentoring in the UK and other parts of Europe. He has trained with various Wilderness schools including Trackways, Woodsmoke and Jon Young’s “The art of mentoring” program. He is a keen observationists and very interested in learning and teaching more about the relationship that humans have with their land base and see this as key in becoming an effective Permaculturist. He co-runs “Open Earth Ecology” where Radical permaculture techniques are encourages and employed. He is also a talented musician and storyteller.

Sofia Matsi
Sofia MatsiCo-teaching
Sofia is a health campaigner, permaculture designer and a sustainability activist. She lives in Cyprus and is currently active in the worldwide organization of the “Movement of Life”. She trained in Chemistry and Arts and she is now involved in many eco-initiatives in Cyprus collaborating with national groups and non-profit organizations such as Peliti from Greece, Dr. Rath Health Foundation and others.

Petrera Permaculture Land – Kalo Horio Klirou area
The land is located on a quite mountainous site with a picturesque view of the Pitsillia mountains.

  • The cost of workshop includes 3 vegetarian meals each day

How to get there

Petrera Permaculture Land is located at Kyriakou Matsi Street, at Kalo Horio Klirou.

Driving from Nicosia

  • Take the road towards Palaichori.
  • Pass the village of Arediou and pass by the military base of “Tasou Markou” (on your right)
  • As soon as you pass by “Ais Ampelis” winery on your right, take the 3rd turn on your right where a sign for “Kyriakou Matsi Street” is posted and go up the concrete path.
  • You will see signs for the farm on your left.

Parking is very limited on the farm so arrangements will be made organize commuters in the least amount of vehicles

Buses are available starting from Solomou square in Nicosia at 6:00 and 7:40am on Saturday morning – Buses 100 & 157. The buses go through the nearby village of Arediou and will bring you on the main road towards Palaichori where you can get off near the area of “Ais Ampelis” winery. Picking up can be arranged. Discount of 10 euros to those who arrive on the farm on their bike!
(great bike ride from Nicosia to the farm for those into cycling!)
