Course description

PDC Cyprus Summer 2016 curriculum

Who Could Benefit from a Permaculture Design Certificate Course?

What Subjects and Permaculture Principles are Covered in a (PDC) Course?

Why is it critical to take a permaculture design course in my own bioregion and climate?

Meals are vegetarian and are prepared daily fresh by a local cook with ingredients sourced from the surrounding local organic produce as much possible.

Accommodation: Camping (available camping facilities) or Rooms on nearby villages (on-demand).

*Accommodation is in student self-provided tents in our campground. If you want to camp but don’t have your own camping equipment (tent, sleeping bag, etc.) please contact us and we will try to assist you accordingly. Campsite amenities are on flat ground and with clean conventional & compost toilets and solar heated up hot showers, internet wi-fi available.

We ask that you ensure that your toiletries, soaps, etc., are eco-friendly. That means free of any chemicals and labelled as such. Please ensure you bring your own towel.

There is no outside lighting system in the camp ground, so please bring a torch/flashlight.

During the free day, students can take the opportunity to explore the local area including the nearby villages and local markets with a diverse and interesting range of spots to visit and food to try. For more information, please contact us.

Weather Conditions:

Weather specific clothing and camping gear is needed according to the time of year. Although this is a very nice micro-climate area with cooler temperatures than the rest of the island, have in mind that its Cyprus and its summer, so the temperatures during the days range usually from 30 to 35C, followed by cool evenings where quite high humidity is common.

We recommended that you bring along: work boots, torch, mosquito repellant, drinking bottle, good shade hat, sunglasses, long & short work pants, working gloves (if you have soft hands), and long sleeved cotton work shirts (to avoid sun burn). From our experience we advice that you dress in layers where you can add or remove accordingly.

Wireless internet will be provided for use in the class room or the eating area/chillout area. It is recommended that you bring with you an external hard disk, USB stick or any other media storage device as it will be of great use. We have tons of information to share with you and also file swapping between students is very common.

Travel Insurance:

We strongly recommend that all our international students have comprehensive travel insurance for cancellation, medical expenses, personal accident, personal baggage, money and liability before travelling to Cyprus. Travel insurance is relatively cheap and can be purchased through a number of channels. Please speak with your travel agent for further details.
