The Workshop

In this 10-day workshop we combine theory and hands-on training while we build an earth dome using earth and sandbags as our basic building materials. The science behind the technique we will use follows humanitarian architect Nader Khalilis’ innovative building technology: “Emergency Sandbag Shelters” – a method which passed California’s strictest seismic tests. Through this natural building method we seek to use the minimum of man-made materials, and the maximum of natural resources: The Earth, together with the universal elements of Water, Air and Fire.

Workshop Dates

Friday 19th June – Sunday 28th June 2015

Main Instruction conducted during two long Weekends*
FRIDAY 19th- SUNDAY 21st June &
FRIDAY 26th – SUNDAY 28th June

* Participants will receive all key building instruction during the two long weekends but the building will continue in the in-between weekdays – Participants who cannot attend all weekdays due to work, are welcome to join for as many weekdays they can.
